As Jim mentioned, my wife Cheryl did the leg work on researching and booking rooms for the whole trip. We have three rooms and six beds reserved for each stop at this point. I imagine this will be enough. If not we may have to employ some cots or floors for sleeping if we end up with more than six people on the trip. Or we can shoot for more rooms, which may or may not be feasible given the location.

I think I paid for the rooms on Jim’s and my first tour. It was a short trip and I won a grand playing slots. On top of that, I was happy to have a co-pilot and navigator so I was feeling generous. The next time around, Jim offered to pay for our rooms for the whole tour! Talk about generous! It’s possible he was drunk when he made the offer but I held him to it. I doubt any of that will be happening this time.

We’ll figure that shit out later. Over drinks. Or a hot engine bay of a broken car.

We are a bunch of beyond middle age men. I am a decade older than Monkey Bill… I am a torn up, old, sonuvabitch. Cots? Floor? I don’t fucking think so! Let’s iron this shit out… I like the idea of one room / one man… This allows for freedom from aggravation, as it applies to the inevitable bowel movements, farting, nose picking, preferred lights out time, snoring, irritating habits, TV preferences, Music preferences, Tuck, No tuck, tourette syndrome outbusts, Thermostat setting, Jim’s thong, etc. In short, Though missing out on the camaraderie of roommates would be a shame, I am a grumpy prima-donna when it comes to my sleep. Subject me to just a few (let alone a week plus) six hour sleep nights and I’ll kill someone at the mid-point of Power Tour. Hence, I’m willing to pay the cost to be the boss! Please advise… perhaps I’m not seeing the whole picture. Saving $$ is nice too!

Well, we have some rooms booked but they will likely have a dude in each bed. Probably with a speedway floozy. If you want to make sure you have a private room you should start booking. Room go pretty quickly near the venues, especially in the smaller towns.

O.K. Having initially come across as a loner / aloof / snob / a-hole, I have come to my senses. I’m doing this WITH you dudes. Looking forward to spending time with all of you, meeting new friends, and the inevitable stories. My hope is committing at this point, I will have the pleasure of a bed! Whatever the case may be, I’m ready to rough it and be part of the Posse! As an FYI for those not yet IN – I did some research… The venues booked through HRHB are unavailable to the common man. Chicago area… Forget it… It’s gonna be a sea of humanity. “Oh, the humanity.” The end of the line, Wisconsin Dells, is a Summer vacation wonderland… It is pricey, even for a shitty little hotel room. The Condo is a bargain! Bill… Let me know what I need to do regarding reimbursement / paying my share. Also, Thanks, Cheryl!
