Who's in? What's your status?

I’m officially in, I guess. I signed up for a long hauler pass at the above website. Some random organization charged my credit card, but I never got any kind of confirmation, so…whatever?

I mentioned the tour to my buddy Tom in hopes that he might care to serve as co-pilot. He was tremendously stoked, but is also notoriously unreliable. Status: to be determined. As a side note, he’s an MD, so we’d have our own Team Amalgamated physician.

My car is at paint/body now and the shop has promised the frame back to me by the end of this month. There is an awful lot left to do. Jim says I’ll be ready. I don’t know if I share his positivity.

Yeah, you get no confirmation of anything when you register. They will mail you something a month before. Or not. Regardless, you show up at the registration table on the first day, and they have your junk there. Credentials, etc. It’s all hilariously slapdash, for an event in its 20th year, with thousands of participants.

So yeah, I’m in. I have a few things I’d like to address prior to the big trip but they really don’t matter all that much. I could get in the Duster Tomorrow and make the trip if need be.

Bold, Olson. BOLD. I think it won’t matter at all what we choose for communications devices, IF YOU CAN’T HEAR ANYTHING! Heh. Loud.

Speaking of which, folks, Bill and I have been discussing comms. Thinking of either GMRS radios, or perhaps rental of some business band rigs, for better range. We want to be EFFICIENT! And to always know WHO HAS THE DONUTS.

Hm, I actually worked on a ARS logo but got bogged down by inability to nail a particular likeness. You may be just the guy to pull it off. Oh, and get cracking on that avatar before Jim decides on one for you.

As noted above, I’m in. I just completed registration… “Pledging the Long Hauler” $83.50 is a drop in the bucket, in contrast to an engine build! Let’s do this.

Regarding AR&S logo… I have one in the works – It shall be revealed very soon. Jim… As for avatar – I do not have any privileges from my “Edit my Profile” section… Cannot post an avatar. Bummer.
