Reilly Motorsports Goodies Delivered!

For almost a week I’ve been obsessively checking my UPS tracking number for twelve packages from Reilly Motorsports, Inc, AKA RMS. Starting in White Haven, PA, they passed through Pittston, PA, Hodgkins, IL and Lenexa, KS on their way to my house. I was pacing like an expectant father as I waited for the big brown truck to show up. It usually arrives around 11am. Naturally, it was more like 3pm on this day.

The driver asked me if I was building a motorcycle. I told him I was building a car. When he asked if it would be fast I said “yes”.

Pictured above is an RMS Alterkation K-frame and coil-over front suspension and the Lynx four-link rear suspension with Wilwood four-piston rear disk brakes, a Wilwood master Cylinder and all manner of brackets and doo-dads. Also present are sub-frame connectors, Mosler axles and a power steering rack. As Jim said via text today, “I guess it’s too late to turn back now!” Too late indeed.

The only thing missing is the 12.91″ Wilwood front disc brakes with six-piston calipers. They are back ordered and will arrive eventually.

We’ll be getting this party started soon. It should be good so stick around.

What about the brake booster? Do we need to mock up something to accommodate the new motor in the engine compartment? Did you get the steering column bearing, for when that gets cut down? Has Cheryl put all this crap on the curb for recycling yet?

The brake booster doesn’t fit this application so it looks like I’ll be going manual. Unless, of course, you’d like to buy me one for Christmas and figure out how to make it fit.

All the steering column bits should be in one of those little baggies.

I was able to tackle Cheryl in the lawn before she got the K-member to the curb.

    Who said the booster wouldn’t fit? Which booster? Why? I believe it should work. Don’t be a give-upski!

      Bill Reilly at RMS said they don’t work with the 6.1 in this application. But hen he said one guy pulled it off and it required a lot of custom work. Like I said, Christmas!

        “They” being what? A hydraboost setup, or a vacuum booster? Isn’t that thing on a bellcrank? I’m thinking manual brakes in that car might be a little weird, is all… Then again, it IS a baby blue duster, so it’s weird already.

            How is it possible for a hydroboost not to work? If there’s room for your old vacume boost that has to work and if not they make remote hydroboosts that fit anywhere. Is the R&P setup power?

              Looks like Jim has figured out how to make it work. I don’t know the details yet. Yes, it’s a power rack. Should connect to factory pump if I install a regulator.
